I used to be stunned when people told me the following…
“John, Montgomery Winslow is the only roofing company I’ve ever seen that does everything the right way.”
It honestly baffled me. I just try to take care of my customers as best I can. I never thought I was doing anything special.
I started working at my father’s roofing business when I was just 16. My dad was always honest with his customers, always respectful, and always worked on a project until his customer was one hundred percent satisfied.
I just thought that was the norm.
But as I look around the roofing industry, I see companies that gave roofers a bad name.
I’m talking about the companies that lie about having the proper licensing, hire drifters on street corners (yes, it does happen), and cut corners on every project to save a few dollars.
I’m never surprised when these companies go out of business within a few years. People hate being lied to, and they hate wasting money on second-rate work.
When I took ownership of Montgomery Winslow in 1990, I adhered to what made my father’s roofing business so successful: Be honest. Be respectful. And make sure the customer is happy.
